You've heard a lot of things about church that sounded true--maybe even from churches you've attended. Just because they said it doesn’t mean it's what the Bible says. The church is full of mistaken beliefs or "urban legends". Today we’ll look at the urban legend “Jesus wants you to behave”.

The path you take in life determines where you’ll end up. You will become what you pursue, not what you hope you’ll be. Scripture tells us that we should build our lives on something that matters and remains after everything else has failed. That someone is Christ.

Some words become generic with use. “Xerox” means any photocopier, and “Kleenex” means anything you use to blow a nose. The word “church” fits in this category. But it has a specific, powerful meaning we'll explore.

So you ask God to work things out for you, but do you give God the credit for what He does? We’ll take a look at Psalm 96 and explore what it says about “declaring His glory”.

Ever known someone who was “out to get you”? Striking back or running away seems like the obvious response. Sometimes it seems like the planet just isn’t big enough to get away from someone like that--unless you know the One who owns the planet. He wants to help, but it’s your choice.

Ever had the lyrics of a song express exactly how you feel? In this new series, we’ll take a look at the visceral lyrics of the Bible and find how they resonate not only with our souls, but with the heart of God as well. Today we’ll listen to a Psalm to sing when we’re stuck in a difficult situation.

"Amazing grace" has become a church cliche, but the overwhelming kindness of God is difficult to put into words. Isn't it odd that we might feel cheated when someone else gets more "grace" than us? As we wrap up the series, we'll take a look at this scandalous grace of God.

Jesus said that the Christian life is like a vine with branches. Branches only grow if they receive nourishment from the vine. If Jesus is the vine and we are the branches, this has something to say about the value of being connected.

You’ve been given talents. You might have more than some and less than others, but God gave them to you as a gift to use.  Your life can make a difference, but you have to try. 

Let’s face it--church as a whole seems to have more than its fair share of wackos and hypocrites. Everyone has a story about an encounter with someone in this category. Why doesn’t God do something about this? We’ll take a look at what Jesus had to say about the issue.

“It’s like this” is a phrase you use to describe something that might be hard to grasp otherwise. Wrapping our heads around what Jesus had in mind for the Christian life can be difficult at times, so we’ll take a look at “it’s like this” stories Jesus told about following him. This week, “it’s like” seeds and yeast.

Popular assumption says that our spiritual side is only a part of our life we balance with our physical, mental, and emotional sides. However, the Bible says our relationship with Christ is the point that balances all these together. Today we begin exploring how all these arenas of our life are "connected."

Sometimes, whether we like it or not, circumstances force us to re-evaluate assumptions that we live by. How do we sharpen our minds so we can find the right path to take? How do we do this during ‘ordinary' times? As you might have guessed, it has something to do with being connected.
