About our pastor

I am happily married to Sheryl. We have one son, Ian. I grew up in Charleston, WV. The course of my life changed at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio) when I sensed God telling me to become a pastor. I wasn’t so sure God was picking the right guy for the job, but I figure He had a better perspective on this than I did. I finished my B.A. in Religion (with a Biblical Languages Minor–Greek and Hebrew), then I moved to Kansas City and earned my M.Div. (Masters of Divinity) degree at Nazarene Theological Seminary. I was ordained in 2001. I lived in Kansas City, MO for eight years. While there, I was a youth pastor for a while, then I helped launch a new church as an associate pastor. Following that I became the senior pastor of a church near Cincinnati. Among the many things we learned there, Sheryl and I learned that we were not cut out for a traditional church. God is calling us to create this spiritual environment that will challenge people to explore and expand faith in Jesus Christ.
